Mother's Wish

This is Robert Nagy.  As I traveled through your site tonight I felt compelled to share with you one of my resent drawings.  The one attached is titled "Mother's Wish"  I must begin the story behind this drawing by first telling you that I also design and make dresses.  My cousin who is the brave volunteer to model these designs is the foundation behind this drawing.  After viewing some photos of a shoot two pictures kept drifting by my computer and in turn the creation of the Mother's Wish was developed.  I took the idea behind the life of a butterfly and reversed it.  In a "Mother's Wish"  a child is born with their wings and later in life as they grow and mature they must then shed their wings and walk the world of reality.
Mother's Wish
In the "Mother's Wish"   the mother (my cousin)  is looking up to the child (her daughter) and is wishing that if only her child could hold on to her wings for a while longer.

I have never used the title of artist because I always thought of an artist as one who creates a work of art that touches someone in a special way.  I know that most of what I do doesn't fall into that, but when I showed this drawing to my cousin and told her the story I received the biggest hug.  I never expected that but it is a feeling that I will never forget.  A feeling that for the first time made me feel like an artist.
